Notice

The title corresponds to the name of a Hittite king from the 13th century BC, son of King Muwatalli II. His father’s name provided the title for a vocal work previously composed to a text sung in Hittite. The lineage of the two kings exactly mirrors that of the two works, as Kurunta adopts most of the script features used in Muwatalli, which is No.1 of my Three Sacred Songs. The darboukka part uses rhythms borrowed from classical Arabic music.
The lyrics refer to the storm god who, like Demeter in Greece, decided in his anger to bring all vegetation to a standstill.
The rough sound of Hittite and the use of ornate refrains do not aim at an archaeological reconstruction, but rather at a kind of imaginary folklore impregnated with several universal archetypes. The tenor recorder adorns the vocal part, or sometimes replaces it.
