Notice

At the old ‘musique concrète’ concerts, as they were called in the 1950s, I often spotted a distinguished listener who regularly came to hear the work that, led or protected by Pierre Schaeffer, we were venturing into ‘the bone of sound’, as this faithful and discreet listener used to say. I loved the poetic journeys he invented, especially the one to Grande Garabagne. This Spicilège, inspired by Henri Michaux, who incriminated music, should be listened to as a sound version of one of his journeys into an imaginary country where comicality colours anxious reveries, among a strangely familiar and threatening population, constantly on the lookout to cross the silences, to discover the end of the story.
