CANZONE I is a brass quintet written in 1957. The composer was then a member of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, and the work was recorded to accompany Conte, a short animated film drawn by the Polish filmmaker Piotr Kamler, whose conception was modelled on the pre-existing music. Elements were reworked to compose CANZONE II.
