Notice
After revisiting the bagpipes of the Greeks of Pont in Gaïda in 2019, the following year I wanted to work in the same way on the admirable Basque tradition of the txalapartas. After the melodic dimension, it’s the rhythmic dimension that’s at stake here. By assembling different sections, changing accents, timbres and sometimes tempi, I was able to use the Midi standard to do the work of an arranger. This work bears some resemblance to that of traditional creators in Bali or Brittany, for whom innovation is never cut off from their roots. The difference is that, willy-nilly, my roots, like those of most of my contemporaries, now have a global dimension, and the variations (in Basque Aldakuntzak) with which I express my admiration are inevitably tinged with a little nostalgia.
