Several decades after the Groupe de Recherches Musicales collective concert in which I had taken part in 1963 with Synergies, I received an invitation from the Percussions de Strasbourg to take part in another collection of pieces composed for their anniversary, under the general title of Entente préalable. At the same time, I was taking part in the same group’s Franco-Chinese project, which was to come to fruition the following year. This time, no sharing of compositional elements was required, and the preliminary agreement was quite reduced. I designated my participation with a Latin expression that could literally be translated as “contribution willingly made”. As in Khnoum, I entrusted a sampler to one of the group’s musicians. The palette of timbres used contains and complements those of the other percussion instruments. Beginning with a certain violence, the piece gradually softens.
